Title: Scottish Choir Songs
Post by: sausagepie on Mon, Sep 25, 2017, 14:55 PM
Hi,

Looking for some interesting ideas, I sing in a community choir of mixed Male and Female voices and I would like to bring along a Scottish song.

When reviewing YouTube and thinking about what I sung in school nothing quite fits the bill.

Has anyone here sung or heard sung anything Scottish which they would consider listening to again ? If so would you have some links or pointers so I could take listen.

Thanks Graeme

Peggy Gordon would be a good'un.  I can see a choir doing it.

Here's a traditional lullaby by my late friend Kirk Macgeachy:

There's also an Annie Lennox version on youtube with lyrics.

Matt McGinn songs like - I have seen the highlands or The rolling hills of the borders are all about the countryside but he has some lovely songs such as Janetta and Morning Elanora which I have heard sang beautifully by a choir.  Of course KC has hundreds of great Scottish songs what about any of his songs from the album From Scotland with love the first track Something to believe in would be fantastic if you performed it!

Hey thanks for all the responses thus far (Kirk M has a special place in our house so YT has been interesting) .... I am unfortunately not as musically talented as others here and really need to have the tunes previously arranged .... Has any choir sung a KC tune arranged in SATB ?
