I new St Vincent album was waiting for me when I got back from Crail so it got a spin yesterday. Today has been conference call after conference call so no listening done. Will start to get trough the cds I bought over the weekend at some point, starting with Endless Round....

I listened to the iTunes preview of the Beck album yesterday, sounded a bit samey. Should I be convinced otherwise?

How is that Beck album?
Might invest at lunchtime.
I'm listening to some old Dunklechunk shows.

Disclaimer is one of the cd's I got from Kc's wee case at the week-end.  Haven't played it yet - its got that cellophane wrapper on it, so I need to psyche myself up to try and get it off without smashing the jewel case in an existential rage.

Looking forward to hearing it though.

For me it's been BLoodlines by Barbarossa and the 3 KC albums I got at the weekend: Endless round, I am 9  and an unknown one, which I couldn't make out the name of.

The Beck album is pretty good, it is indeed a bit one paced and samey like a lush remastered Sea Change without perhaps a standout like Lost Cause.

The St Vincent one is great.

Ok I knew it, can't get the eff'r off.  What was the point of the industrial revolution, and the white heat of technology an a' that???

Am I going to have to take a hammer to it?

Franzkafka, rub one of the edges of the jewel case against the edge of a table or desk, it's rip allowing access to the cd with no damage caused.

The St Vincent album is very good indeed.

My favourite place to hear new music is the MoonHop! I hear it, dance a lot to it, try to find out what it is and then wake up the next day without one detail stored in the memory bank. One day I'll recall something of it.

Those fellas spend a lot of time on discogs for our pleasure!

King Creosote on Planet Eggz

also from the battered suitcase at the weekend.

I am tad confused though - a while back healyramirez posted a whole KC Discography list on The Beef.  There are discrepancies between healyramirez list for Planet Eggz and my CD track list on the inside cover.  For example, one of my favourites 'Touched by Tomoko' (by old Gordie naked boy, Lone Pigeon) isnt listed on the Discography whilst several tracks he lists arent on my CD (Funny, Wise Case of the Missing Closet, Me and the Slater, for example).

I listened to the previous St.Vincent albums and didn't really enjoy them (see also; A.Calvi). I like the new one a lot though and Prince Johnny is the best thing Ive heard this year. Mainly because Avalanche still haven't posted my WH stuff out......

i've been "borrowing" a fair number of CD cases from, um, old fence bestsellers, and by far the best way to remove a shrink wrap is to run any sharp edge (thumbnail, biro pen, yale key, knife, scissors, toothpick, fork prong) down the groove between the left hand edge of the front cover (if you can't find this groove, it's usually located very near the left hand edge of the CD booklet) and the right hand edge of the CD tray visible from the front.

kc albums change all the time, dubbers. planet eggz, like "loose tea", was never released beyond the first five made, largely because they contained shite versions of average songs. each and every one of my primary school reports read "kenneth would do better if he paid more attention to class and less attention to what was going on outside the window". i beg to differ.

No, sorry, cant accept that.

The songs on this album are neither average nor shite.

Feel free never to release it, however, as that will just push its value up on ebay for me if hard times strike  ;)

Oh, and does the Christmas freebie CD have a title (you say they all do..).  I have called it 'Includes Deductions for Strawberry Beer and Such" on my ipod.  Correct?

I still haven't heard New Gods. Kevin at Avalanche fudged up my order and it looks like he hasn't posted it out despite me paying for it the week before it was released. I thought I was doing a good thing supporting a local record shop. The shop is shut now. I got in touch through facebook and he said he would look into it. Not heard back from him but I think he is having a stall at the Grassmarket market so I will be heading over there tomorrow to get my copy  :(

Got my tickets, the other day, for Status Quo on 9 Apr. Read somewhere online yesterday (Livenation? whatever that is) that Wilko Johnson Band is the support. I think they call that a Double Whammy!

Parents are taking the kids overnight (half term) so think the wife and I will take the bus in to Glasgow and make a night of it. Triple Whammy!  :)

yeah you definitely should. here's the link to the album: http://repeaterrecords.bandcamp.com/album/luck

they evolved from a band uncle john
and whitelock - i think it was just jacob
who was in both - who were also pretty
special. deffo a live band though the
album they released is indeed brilliant.
i was at the last ever uncle john gig at
king tuts - i think it was called the death
of uncle john and whitelock - where jacob
was a brought out through the crowd in
a coffin where he lay motionless on the
stage floor for ten minutes as the band
played, before he jumped out the coffin
and the gig kicked off. king tuts went
fuckin mental that night. both bands are
very dark lyrically but totally magnificent.

It is, right?  Just a great album.  I think some people have been a bit disappointed with it because it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's a classic album in my book.

assume this is from domino drip?  really like the francois album - quite the grower.

how disappointing is that amazing snakeheads album?  like a shittier glasvegas if that was possible. i remember a band called schtum who did that sort of thing a lot better.

i would recommend this : http://bandcamp.sianspheric.com/  but i always do and noone listens ;-)  its gonna be a collectors item:  honest.

Stu, you have been banging on about that sianspheric since 2005 or something.  It is right up there with loveless.................

Snakeheads is right old pile of cobblers and I cant get into the frankie album at all.  Her was better with the Hollywoods.
