Good stuff. KC gigs at the Queens Hall are always good. A cracking venue. I heard KC being interviewed on Radio Scotland about the film shows. It sounds like a must see / hear.

Love and loss, war, resistance, emigration, work and play – but most of all, Scotland. All in a film which brings out not only the vividness of the past in the present but also very much the personal.

Featuring archive footage researched over several months in the National Library of Scotland/Scottish Screen Archive, Virginia Heath’s poetic documentary From Scotland with Love is screened with live accompaniment by King Creosote and his band.

The narration is driven as much by the music as it is by images. Without voice-overs or interviews, the lives and stories of the characters – like the fisher lassie thinking about her lover who has gone to sea – are told through King Creosote's new song cycle, one of his most widescreen cinematic and finest pieces of work to date.

The film will be premiered this summer to coincide with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and King Creosote's album From Scotland with Love will be released on Domino in July."

I've just tried to get tickets for Aberdeen and it is sold out.   >:(

If anyone hears of any tickets available can you please give me a shout.  Just caught the bit of Pauper's (Harper's) Dough and it looks like it could be the most evocative thing to watch and hear.  Especially given the times we live in.

Does anyone know when/where 'From Scotland with Love' is is happening in Glasgow?

Based on KC's list of  various gig dates, a while ago, it seems there is a live performance (official premiere?) round about Commonwealth Games launch time. The Games website appears to have a.) A stunning lack of information, b.) The world's worst search engine, c.) both of the above (delete as appropriate).

Saw this kind of thing (sadly only on DVD) when Bill Frisell performed music accompanying a number of Buster Keaton films although that was instrumental - it'll be interesting to hear KC's songs in this new context.

Ah, right. Are there any other film gigs in the central belt (Ed/Glas area)? I assume the Aug 15th Queen's Hall gig is the annual KCBand Ed Fest shindig.

Okay people, Barbican knowledge needed - my friend and I ARE gonna come! But the only floor seats left are at the back. There's 2nd row at the back of the circle but a single row of circle seats along the sides upstairs, most still available. How's the view from these? How far back is the back balcony? Are we better off just in the back downstairs? Cheers pals :D

Not sure, suspect it may be free, as part of the community event days http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=11682

Capacity is 25,000. Cycling time trial starts and finishes in Glasgow Green same day.

Need the powers that be to confirm ticket arrangements, if any, in due course  ;)

Is anyone going to the London matinee show or fancies meeting up before the evening show? Last train back to Leicester is stupidly early on a Saturday night so can't realistically do the evening gig.

I'm still reeling from the shock of watching half a dozen folks leave the Colinsburgh library before our set came to a close in order to catch the 95

That's more bad news than good - well it is from my point of view, I love WTOC.  I suppose it might mean that the Crail town mafia will forget you are banned from all halls and you will be able to book them in 2016!

The FB event is here but I've added the quote from the LeithLate site:

"The Out of the Blue Drill Hall: ... LeithLate Bruncheon live music event (Sun - suggested donation £3 on door) with Cammy Phair (12pm) Daniel McGeever (2pm), William Douglas (3pm) plus King Creosote (4pm)."

That matches with Kenny saying he was playing 4-5.  :)

Thanks so much Kenny and band for a magical afternoon!  The new songs were beautiful (can't wait to watch the film - I was too busy chewing my nails over the football yesterday, sigh) as were the old.  As I said on Facebook, 'John Taylor's Month Away' makes me feel all the feels whenever I hear it... and then you went and played 'Not One Bit Ashamed'  :D

And what a refined way to have brunch, being serenaded from above  :D

It was so good that the hipster dickheads paying no attention at the table behind us didn't even bug me  :o ;)
