This is fast becoming one of my favourite kc releases. Great vibe man. 8)
-
thank you leckers, thank you jah - the boats club are delighted with our contributions thus far, but there are oodles of copies left, so any and all kind words are hugely appreciated! 8)
-
Its difficult to imagine any KC fan not loving Sure & Steadfast. Maybe some folk just not aware of it yet?
If any East Midlands fans want it I think I could pick them up a copy later this month- save on postage?
-
One of my favourite releases already, this one. Top marks, Mr Kwaing sir!
-
Can someone go through track by track? I want songs to make a grown man's heart weep!
I'll buy it all the same mind you 8)

Tracks 1 to 11 are fudging ace, so just pop along to the Fisheries Museum and buy it. The Guardian

It's given me some fond reminders of when I too was a member of the BB!

I thought we'd all bought this during our recent weekend in Anstruther but.........if you can fit an extra AETC box set in the Johnsonmobile (assuming they are available) I'd be very grateful. I still have your 'personalised' Seamus Tour EP by the way!

Fond memories of my time in the BB, I played the bugle in the BB band, what did u play?

I played the trumpet then the euphonium in the primary school brass band
-
I was in the BB. I played the fool.
Come to think of it we were all a bunch of clowns when it came to attempting the snowball routine at marching ;D
-
Bloody Marvelous album
-
i think i lasted two
weeks in the bubbly
bairns. the footie team
was shit.
-
Got kicked out of the Beebees for not wanting to wave fluorescent sticks around to Bridge Over Troubled Water at their Christmas do. Scarred for life.
-
i was in the BB for 5 years and left because thursday night's BB clashed with top of the pops.
there's a BB in-joke on an earlier kc album ... um, i've just thought of a way to flesh out the newsletter ... as you were.
-
i remember playing "the last post" on rememberance sunday outside the church and all the cars would come to a stop on the main road outside, those were the days eh?
-
My two most embarrassing moments took place whilst I was in the BBs.
I once qualified to represent 1st Tulliallan at the summer West Fife Under-11 BB Athletic Finals (or whatever it was called) in the long jump. Qualifying took place in the BB hall in Kincardine, with the floor covered in matting and quilts, Nae bother.
However, the finals themselves took place at Pitreavie athletics stadium in Dunfermline. Hundreds of people were watching. In 3 attempts, I didn't even reach the sand-pit...
You'll have to buy me several pints before you get the other story out of me!

It doesn't involve an over attentive BB officer does it?

What's embarrassing about two grown men re-enacting an iconic movie love scene whilst they were meant to be stewarding at the Waid Hall?
Nothing. Nothing at all.

Fuctifano, I couldn't see your pic and I REALLY want to. Please repost...

Funky - I was trying to protect your dignity. I see it's (much) too late!

Sure and Steadfast is another great KC album. Salt eyed at the bathing pool is beautiful.

aye. I was listening to that last night. one of those tracks that maybe pass you by first time but when you actually hear it - wow. what a great album though. so many amazing moments on it.
ounces.....
-
We were listening to it tonight in garden, sipping a glass of wine e as the sun went down, lovely it was, lovely.
-
Hello.
Just wanted to say how much I'm loving Sure and Steadfast. I was lucky enough to be in the east neuk last month so visited the fisheries museum to pick it up. Favourite tracks are Third Party, Ounces and Carry On Dancing. Highly recommended!
Thanks KC (and HMSG)
-
This is perhaps my fav KC album since They Flock Like Vulcans.... It's superb.
-
Having just found out about this, I have sent a message to Sean... I hope that remains the right course of action...
-
I am listening to this right now (on Salt Eyed at the Bathing Pool) whilst trawling online through 350 handwritten records of 19th centuries births in a Lithuanian District which just happen to be in Polish to complicate matters... dont ask...
-
Just wanted to say how much myself & the other half are enjoying this record. Was up visiting my folks in the East Neuk a few weeks ago, had a peek on this site for the first time in a while and found out about S&S.
Buying an album from behind the counter at the Fisheries Museum was quite strange but what a CD! Def one of KC's finest, lovely contributions from HMS G and couldn't recommend it enough. And all for a good cause :D
Will hopefully make it up for an event next year in the newly improved hall in Anstruther / Crail / whatever else pops up!
-
got my copy today. Thanks to Sean for quick postage of cd. Love the album, had it on at work all afternoon.
-
I was oblivious to the release of this. On my way to the museum now! Ya beauty!
-
The discovery of this album has made an otherwise diabolical week somewhat better. The fact that money from it goes to a worthy cause makes it an album that never stops giving :)
-
this is really really good. exceeded even my expectations. hope someone will release it on vinyl later.
-
I'll add to the praise of this album. Quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites. ;D

Is there another artist whose output as KC's is so consistently good ?

Wonderful album this - and the artwork by Sean is second to none!
Sean - are there prints available of the ships?

The only person I've come across is Tom McCrae. So far I have bought four of his albums (on recommendation of another Hubber) and just ordered a fifth. Every single one is superb in my humble opinion.
-
och, there's hunners. just off the
top off my head - lone pigeon, bob
dylan, bonnie prince billy, elvis presley.
-
Neil Young? True there were a few stinkers along the way but he still seems to churn out about a record a year, mostly good stuff. Used to think Ryan Adams fitted into that as well but then he went and got married / sober / happy.
LOVE getting into someone with a ton of records cause you can go a bit mental and listen to nothing else for ages.
-
I'll nominate Jack White, if you ignore the first Dead Weather album.
-
Jason Molina
The only musical death of someone I didn't actually know that really affected me...
-

Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley were my first two musical loves but they both have plenty of turds in their discography.
I think Jeff Lewis is pretty consistently amazing. There might be a couple of duff tracks on each album but each album has at least 2/3 songs that are mind-blowingly good.

Yeah, he's quite an acquired one. I think I came across him at just the right time in my (quite self-pitying) adolescence. Like I completely understand why people hate Daniel Johnston. Different strokes for different anti-folks, eh?
Speaking of Daniel Johnston, did you hear JY and Adrian Crowley are releasing a covers album? That's angsty music to my ears :D
-
Is that different to the 'invaders salute captain America' CD that was on sale a few homegames back? Think it had about four songs each by jy and ac
-
From what i can tell it's the same but it's been remastered. This is the blurb from Chemikal Underground:
"My Yoke Is Heavy: The Songs of Daniel Johnston"
We're delighted to announce that we'll be releasing 'My Yoke Is Heavy: The Songs of Daniel Johnston' featuring James Yorkston and Adrian Crowley: A homage to the cult American song-writer, the album finds James and Adrian interpreting a selection of Daniel Johnston's beguiling catalogue and will be available from December 6th.
With Johnston's material sitting snugly between merriment and melancholy, who better to have a run at it than our very own Galway balladeer Adrian Crowley and Fife's inestimably lyrical troubadour, James Yorkston?
Limited to 500 vinyl and 500 CDs, 'My Yoke Is Heavy' will be released on Dec 6th and features the following tracklist:
Side A
1. True Love Will Find You In The End
2. My Yoke Is Heavy
3. Held The Hand
4. Like A Monkey In A Zoo
Side B
1. The Sun Shines Down On Me
2. Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Your Grievances
3. Walking The Cow
4. Some Things Last A Long Time

I agree with Dubster about Tom McCrae (I was that hubber) and I'm a massive Springsteen fan, although i wouldnt say I love absolutely everything he's done its close enough.
No one beats KC for outstanding song writing though - in my opinion anyway.
Oh and I would add Withered Hand to the list as well. I know he hasn't got a massive back catalogue but I have no doubt all of his future albums will be pretty amazing.
-
Is there another artist whose output as KC's is so consistently good ?
Hello Everyone! I'm knew here, but not so knew to KC's music.
There have been a lot of great artists mentioned as an answer to this question...
I would also add Joe Henry to the list.
Cheers
-
NEW!!! ffs.
-
Stop picking on Knewbies.....
-
Who new?!
-
I knew... new. it was a typo.
-
I know I'm late to the party but thanks to Sean
I got my copy in the post yesterday...
I'm like a wean at xmas whenever I get something
new of Kennys to listen to and this is superb...
Had it on repeat last night and it's my sailing
soundtrack today...great stuff :)
-

Lovely album - spookily I was listening to it just this morning....

Looked at the link to buy the CD and it says this...
Mail Order Information:Choose the appropriate Postal Zone for your order before adding an item to your cart.
Am I going doolally or is there not a cart to add to?
Could someone let me know if the CD is still available and what a poor fellah can do to order one if he don't have a chaequebook.
Cheers

Yeah I think for this one it's still these instructions and not the webshop:

I'd email Sean and see if there are any alternatives to cheque. But I'm not sure there are... Maybe someone can pick you one up next time they are visiting the Fisheries?
-
Hello,
This is still available - no need to email me to check. We'll remove this thread when stock runs out!
Cheers,
Sean
