Hamish Hawk, James Yorkston and Withered Hand @ LAW
« on: Wed, Mar 06, 2019, 11:34 AM »
Hi ...just to bring to your attention a new Arts Festival in Lower Largo along the Fife coast which
will feature a great music and spoken word programme along with visual arts and other events.
Hamish Hawk and Josh Fuchs will open the week's performances at the St David's pop-up venue.
Withered Hand, James Yorkston, Richard Jobson, Rab Noakes, Dave Mach, Phil Jupitus,
Hollie McNish and Michael Pedersen plus many more will perform throughout the week.
19th-28th July
Check out the website -
www.largoartsweek.com
Tickets will be going on sale soon.
Still a couple of gaps in the calendar if anyone fancies being part of it.

That's a wonderful week.  Nice to see Largo getting the attention it deserves.  Not just because it is home to a lovely hub member and  some of the finest tablet ever made!

Thanks for the positive reaction ....I'd really appreciate if you could spread the word ...this is a first for me and the LAW steering group.
Hopefully have news on tickets soon.
The plan is to give locals a chance first before offering them online.

Look forward to this, brilliant. Could it be arranged to put a pair of headphones on the Alexander Selkirk statue?

It would be great if KC joined us ..maybe HH and JF could persuade him to join them.
My fellow Largo Arts Week organiser ,Dougi McMillan, played bass and produced some of Kenny's early stuff with the Skuobhie Dubh Orchestra

Is that so Robinson Crusoe can listen to Desert Island Discs?
Good idea ...even if it's just for a publicity photo.
2019 is the 300th anniversary of the publication of Robinson Crusoe...listed as no. in the Guardian's Best Novels written in English
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/sep/30/100-best-books-robinson-crusoe
The area could make much more of the connection.
Local business are suffering and we hope Largo Arts Week will go some way to help turn the tide (pun intended!)

Would be the icing on the cake if he was there!

My dad showed me a photo of the Selkirk statue when we were reading Robinson Crusoe together when I was about six. When Fife came back on my radar many years later (Largely thanks to Fence and co) it was the first thing I went to see. I am really surprised that the conection isn't made more of, and in my opinion (for what it's worth) I think it'd be a great publicity picture for the event.

We hope to get them online in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
We'll sell them locally initially.
I'll post details of the local and online sale when I have the info.
Thanks
