Yes, finally it's here. 10X10:10 by Ministry of De-Fence.
If you'd like to receive a copy for the release date you can order it online now.
https://defence.bandcamp.com/album/10x10-10

I'll be heading off abroad on the 4th of November for a couple of months, back for Xmas then off again for another stint.
But fear not, Des Lawson has kindly agreed to man the De-Fence shop in my absence. I'll be needing funds while I'm away so don't be scared to order lots of stuff :)

Another De-Fence release I'm delighted to inform you about is a soundtrack for a documentary film based on Alasdair Gray, entitled 'A Life In Progress'. The film is by Kevin Cameron for Hopscotch Films, following Alasdair for15 years throughout two major commissions in Glasgow. The soundtrack is written by Scott Twynholm and is due for general release on the 26th of January 2015.

Here's a wee trailer for the film: http://www.hopscotchfilms.co.uk/news/2013/6/6/alasdair-gray-a-life-in-progress-trailer.html

It's a vinyl only release and will be limited to 300 copies worldwide. Previews of the release will follow soon.

just noticed this. amazing. We should have an alasdair gray thread.

Absolutely - been about 12 years since I read Lanark. Saw it in Waterstones at the weekend and meant to pick it up but got distracted by daughter. Borrowed it from the library the first time I read it. For some reason I always tend to think of it along with The Bridge by Iain Banks. Hmm. Ten Tales Tall and True by AG was also really enjoyable.

Just need to find the time to re-read them...  :(

I always thought The Bridge was Iain Banks' homage* to Lanark...

Both great books by great writers. 'A Life In Pictures' is a great book - chock full of Grays wonderful art..

*- That is the polite way of saying 'cheeky rip-off with a bit more shagging thrown in', isn't it ?

Ha! Could be, never thought of them like that. To be honest I read The Bridge in '96 and Lanark in '02 - I remember because they were times of memorable life events. I remember more of Lanark than I do of The Bridge - don't know if that's an indicator of quality or not.
